ADHD and Autism Evaluations

Step into Clarity

ADHD and Autism Assessments for Adults

Trying to figure out whether ADHD or autism fits your lived experience can feel like wandering through a maze with a flashlight that keeps flickering. Most of those who come to us are adults who’ve spent years thinking, “Something doesn’t add up… but I can’t quite name it.” You’re not alone.

At our practice, we specialize in helping people who’ve spent a lifetime masking, compensating, or being misunderstood finally get answers that make sense. While different from full neuropsychological testing (which includes extensive cognitive/IQ testing), our process is appropriate for many adults seeking diagnosis, clarity, and accommodations.

Because here’s the truth: your neurotype isn’t a mystery we’re trying to “solve.” It’s a story we’re helping you finally translate.

Why Choose our Assessment Services?

  • Specialization in Neurodiversity
    • Evaluations are conducted by independently licensed clinicians (e.g., LPCC, LISW) with specialized training in ADHD and autism assessment. Our team uses a structured, evidence-informed approach and has experience working with neurodiverse individuals across a range of presentations, including those who may have learned to mask or compensate over time.
  • Focused on You
    • Every person is different and so is our approach! We take the time to understand your specific needs and tailor the assessment to fit you, because your story is important and unique.
  • Comprehensive and Supportive
    • Testing isn’t just about getting a diagnosis - it’s about gaining insight into who you are! Our process is thorough and compassionate, providing you with a clear understanding of your results and practical strategies that support your daily life.

What to Expect

  • Request for Services
    • To get started, visit our contact page and fill out the Request an Appointment form. You’ll be able to select which assessment(s) you’re looking for—ADHD, autism, or both. Once we receive your form, our Client Care Coordinator will be in touch to guide you through the next steps.
      • Please Note: We typically have a waitlist, that may be a few months, for assessment appointments due to high demand and limited availability. Openings are offered based on provider schedules. Due to this, we may not be able to accommodate specific requests for days or times.
  • Paperwork
    • Before your session, we'll send you some practice paperwork along with a few self-assessments to complete. Due to the volume of assessment requests, we require that all paperwork be completed within 48 hours of scheduling your appointment. They might take a quite a bit of time, but they give us a head start and give us helpful insights so we can hit the ground running when we meet!
  • Sessions
    • We begin with an intake session, which is an open conversation where we get to know your story, history, and what brings you here. From there, we review your completed assessments and explore additional questionnaires and tools to better understand how your brain works. Be prepared that you may have some additional assessments to complete after the first day, depending on what we discover together. Every evaluation is personalized, and depending on your needs, the process usually takes between 3 to 10 sessions.
  • Results and Next Steps
    • Once your assessment report is ready — typically 2 to 3 weeks after your final session — we’ll meet to walk through the results together. We’ll explain everything in a clear, supportive way so you can understand how your unique patterns show up in everyday life. You’ll receive a comprehensive written report that includes:
      • Diagnostic conclusions (when applicable), based on DSM-5 criteria
      • A clear, strengths-based explanation of your results in plain language
      • Insight into how your brain processes information, communicates, and navigates daily demands
      • Functional impact across settings (work, school, relationships, day-to-day life)
      • Specific, individualized recommendations, which may include: Extended time, Reduced-distraction or quiet environments, Flexible communication methods, Executive functioning supports, Sensory accommodations
    • This isn’t just about a diagnosis, it’s about making sense of the whole picture and creating a roadmap that actually works for you. Many clients use their report to support workplace or academic accommodations, self-advocacy, and ongoing care. While requirements vary by employer or institution, our evaluations are designed to include the clinical detail and recommendations commonly requested in accommodation processes.

Who should consider ADHD or Autism assessments?

  • If you’re already in therapy, assessments can provide valuable insights and be a beneficial add-on to your existing treatment.
  • If you’re seeking clarity and you’ve noticed a pattern of behaviors you can’t fully understand, the assessments are an option to help you find answers.
  • If you want to improve treatment outcomes and think Autism or ADHD is part of your lived experience, our assessments can lead to more personalized and effective care.

FAQs

  • What’s the process for ADHD and Autism testing?
    • We begin with an initial intake session to explore your concerns, explain the evaluation process, and start gathering background information. From there, we’ll schedule additional sessions to complete the assessments and dive deeper into your experiences. Once everything is complete, you’ll receive a detailed report — and we’ll review it together so you feel confident and supported in your next steps.
  • What Does the Evaluation Include?
    • Our ADHD and autism evaluations are designed to provide a thorough, individualized understanding of how you think, communicate, and function, not just whether you meet diagnostic criteria. Each evaluation includes:
      • Comprehensive clinical interviews covering developmental, medical, academic, and psychosocial history
      • Standardized rating scales and evidence-based assessment tools
      • Structured diagnostic assessment using the MIGDAS-2 (ASD)
      • Clinical observation of communication style, social interaction, and sensory processing
      • Screening for co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, trauma, and depression
  • How long does the evaluation process take?
    • The entire process generally takes a few weeks to a few months from the initial request for services to the results. The timeline can vary based on your needs and schedule.
  • Is the testing covered by insurance?
    • Insurance coverage for ADHD and Autism evaluations can vary, but many plans do cover these services. If your insurance doesn’t include the scored assessments or written report, we’ll add the document preparation fee to your account at our standard hourly rate. We’re happy to help you understand what to expect and clarify any costs ahead of time.
  • What if I’m already receiving treatment?
    • If you’re currently in treatment, our evaluations can provide valuable insights to further support and personalize your care for your current provider. We’ll share our results with you and your provider to help you to adjust your treatment approach.
  • Who is eligible for testing?
    • Our evaluation services are designed for adults aged 18 and over who are looking for clarity around Autism and/or ADHD, whether you’re already in treatment or exploring these concerns for the first time.
  • Can the evaluation be done virtually?
    • Yes! Evaluations are available virtually for residents of Ohio, Nevada, Florida, Louisiana, and Minnesota.
  • How Is This Different From Neuropsychological Testing?
    • Our evaluations are designed to provide meaningful diagnostic clarity and practical, real-world recommendations. In some cases, a full neuropsychological evaluation may be more appropriate—particularly if you need extensive cognitive or IQ testing, documentation for legal or disability determinations, or highly specialized diagnostic clarification. Our approach focuses on using a structured, multi-method process to understand how symptoms show up in everyday life and to provide actionable recommendations and accommodations. If you’re unsure which type of evaluation is the best fit, we’re happy to help guide you.
