Meet Rebecca McMahan
LISW-S

(she/her/hers)

Rebecca McMahan Rebecca is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisor Endorsement (LISW-S) who works with adults, with a focus on supporting individuals within the LGBTQ+ community.

She earned her Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University and her Bachelor of Social Work from Ursuline College. Rebecca also holds a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) from the University of Alabama, reflecting her advanced training and commitment to clinical excellence.

Rebecca brings experience from community mental health, private practice, and case management, including work with individuals navigating chronic illness. This background informs her understanding of the complex ways identity, health, and life circumstances intersect.

She is a GALAP Pledge Provider (Gender Affirming Letter Access Project), meaning she provides affirming, accessible documentation for gender-affirming care in alignment with informed consent models.

Rebecca takes a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered approach, working collaboratively with clients to create meaningful and attainable goals. She is especially passionate about creating a space where LGBTQ+ individuals feel seen, respected, and supported in exploring identity, relationships, and life transitions.

Rebecca has particular experience supporting individuals who are:

– Exploring or affirming their gender identity
– Navigating sexual orientation and identity development
– Seeking support for gender-affirming care documentation
– Managing anxiety, depression, or the impact of systemic stress

She believes therapy should meet you where you are, while also helping you move toward the life you want in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.

Outside of the office, Rebecca enjoys cooking home-cooked meals, traveling, and spending time with her three cats—Oliver, Felicity, and Oswald.
